Hello everyone!

I was looking for some advice and was hoping that someone might be able to help advise me on which component to upgrade on my computer.

I have recently been considering either the Mobo/CPU (switching from AMD to Intel) or getting a new GPU.

Current setup:

ASUS MOBO w/ AMD FX 8350 (8 core clocked at 4GHZ)
8GB GSKILL Ram
Nvidia GTX 670(2mb VRAM)
500Gig Samsung SSD.
Solid power supply.

Considering switching to Intel 4790k w/ ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX, //// OR //// Getting a Nvidia Geforce 780 (regular or TI I havent decided yet) as upgrades. My question is, which would give me better performance increase for gaming?

Every benchmark I have used has shown my processor and GPU at around the same ' tier' of performance, which is making this decision difficult. I Eventually am going to rebuild a whole PC, but thought that I could start with one or the other ATM instead of throwing a ton of money at it all at once.

Any/all input thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Are you going to be gaming? If so, switch to a 4690K and a MSI Gaming 5 Z97. Then upgrade to a 280 or a 280X, whichever is in your budget

Is the difference between the 4790 and the 4690 that negligible? (Yes i will be gaming) I will probably stick with the NVIDIA cards , personal preference, have had bad experiences with AMD cards.

Purely graphics card upgrade would provide better immediate performance in games. Plus you can use this card later when you upgrade to intel ;)

The i7 and i5 have the SAME gaming performance. The i7 has hyper-threading which helps in video editing applications. If going Nvidia, you will not be getting the same performance per dollar ratio as AMD
