Hey all, I'm looking to build a workstation soon and am looking to use a hex (6) monitor setup. It will be a 3 column, 2 row setup.

Which distro of linux/ graphics card(s?) would be compatible with what I'm looking for? Through my research it's clear that anything more than 2+ monitors do not play well with Linux, but most of those discussions date back to many years ago.

My only experience with Linux has been Ubuntu, but am looking to switch if necessary. (Mint, Debian, Arch have been under my radar)

My proposed budget is going to be 1.5-2k USD, not including monitors, peripherals, etc. Just the tower. Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks!

It is really just graphics card dependent.. Many graphics cards have an artifical limit of only two monitors.

This guy has done exactly what you want using 2x AMD 5770 and Ubuntu

This will work on any distrobution though, not just Ubuntu!

Or one of these

Some people use things like this adapter instead

And will any of these work on Linux? From what I know some graphic cards don't like to play nice with Linux..

You have heard wrong. They will work just fine with Ubuntu 14.04.
