Hey guys,

I've a question:
We have a Asus ac66u router.
it's linked up to the modem (Arris TM 401B) with a cat5e cable.
The rest of the cables are cat5e to.

We have 1 cable from the router that's connected with a switch.
This switch (Asus GXD1081) is connected with 2 computers and 1 ps3.
I'am gonna build my own computer it's the first computer in house that supports 1gb internet speed. Do i need to add a second cable directly from my pc to the router to get this internet speed?
specialy for gaming. Can i have the ps3 and the pc on 1 cable, and still gets 1gb if
they are both in use?

Sorry for any spelling mistakes.
I'am Dutch.

Well...they're not using 'the same cable'. 1 cable to each device.
No, it will not slow anything down.

Modem -> router -> switch -> devices

If all the other devices (router and switch) are 10/100/1000 capable, just plug it into the switch. If the switch is only 10/100, then that is all you get when talking to other devices connected to that switch.

Network speed depends on the speed of the slowest in the chain.

As far as 'internet speed'...that completely depends on what you pay your ISP for.
