I am investing in an i5 4690k or i7 4790 (non K) in the near future and I was wondering, "Will the i7 bring THAT much more to the picture?"

I will be using this CPU to record Minecraft and other games, and play the latest games while also not recording. Will an i7 help $100 of value more? Or will the i5 give about the same, for the purposes above?

Thanks

i7 is useful for multimedia editing. The extra threads bring more power to video editing, encoding, and the like. If all you're doing is recording and playing games then the i5 is all you need as the extra threads don't do anything in games.

i5 - 4 cores 4 threads
i7 - 4 cores 8 threads

The 4790k IS BETTER SUITED FOR A VIDEO EDITING SETUP , because it has hyper threading.

For your needs the 4690k is perfect.

So the i5 4690k will record Minecraft at 1080p with no lag?
