Awhile back I replaced my Asrock z77 pro3 with a z77 extreme4. When I did so, it selected my partition of windows 8 to boot from my HDD, which is not installed, so I went into the UEFI to set it to my SSD with installed Windows 8.1 but it doesn't come up as an option, but when I don't select an auto boot option and go to custom boot f11, the SSD is there. So it recognizes it and knows it's there but it won't let me select it for the default boot drive. Ideas?

SSD is a Samsung 840 128gb

Solution
Reinstall windows but this time do it in uefi mode by pressing your f11 and selecting the uefi option that corresponds to the installation media. For example your dvd drive will be listed with UEFI in front of it to signify an uefi install as opposed to a regular install. If your installing via usb flash drive, look for the one that has UEFI in front of it...

Good luck
