Hey thw forum users, I am a new member and I need to ask something important.

Off-course information: I got a white IKEA tabletop and four red IKEA legs, so I need the components to be of the "red team".

Anyway, back on course.

I'm running a Dell Vostro 220s (C2D E6850 3ghz, 2gb ddr2 800, HD 6450, 60gb 5400rpm drive) from 5 years ago. I need to upgrade.

Basically what I am trying to ask is this: Will these parts greatly increase my possibilities of running games at higher fps (best i can get on fallout 3 is 45 on medium at 720p) and having a faster system? I was thinking an AMD Athlon 750k because it's a value cpu that performs twice as good as my current 8+ year old platform. Any input would be awesome.

250 DOLLARS USD, NO MORE!!!

AMD Athlon X4 750K - 80 USD
MSI A55M-E35 - 50 USD
ADATA XPG V1.0 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 - 75 USD
CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - 45 USD

or, I could knock off 4gb of that 8gb (although i really, really do not want to as I will be somewhat "future proofing" (i know, i hate that phrase too) the amount of ram that I will need as these modules will need to stay with me for the next few upgrade years and get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus. I can always get that later though. Let me know what you guys think

Guys, I also forgot to mention (which shouldn't even be brought up anyway as I did say I'm running on a Dell) that I am on a 300w power supply. This just will not cut it. That is why i put a decent processor, ram, power supply and mobo in there.

I've picked your solution because you are the best help for what I am encountering, however, I believe I will stick with my component idea because it does cover all areas that I am upgrading for cheap and includes decent parts. Thanks!

-.-

There's guides everywhere to do this, and even if I had a dell edition of windows 7 I could get it activated
