I understand that the card is quite old from its released in 2009 and is quite a power hog consuming about 183 watts of power and the maximum API is a Direct X10.1 .

What I wanted to know from the good folks of Tom's Hardware if it is a still fairly decent/capable card on running nowadays games, I wanted to know how does it run Battlefield 3 and 4. I obtained the card as a gift. And have had it tested by a friend confirming that it works by running Batman Arkham Asylum and Crysis at the highest settings

as you said you are limited to dx 10.1 games. newest games are dx11 only. however the games you mention are dx10 compatible.however you have a very low capable cpu for such games not to mention your 1gb of ram which isnt enough! to put it simple you will need upgrade:(

Well apparently my friend (a fellow pc enthusiast) tested the card the same day I posted this thread and confirms it can run Battlefield 3 on ultra 1080p, overclocked however . But his build in regard to the cpu question he had an AMD FX 6300, so it pretty much ran like a champ.

I was thinking on pairing the GTX 260 with a Pentium G3258,

according to legitreviews.com it can run Battlefield 4 and other modern games pretty good------------------->http://www.legitreviews.com/intel-pentium-g3258-dual-core-processor-gaming-performance_145873/9

Along with,

However I am aware of the fact that the pentium is a dualcore processor and games such as battlefield use up to 4 cores, which supposedly you'd need atleast an i3 because of hyperthreading. I am going to make an Intel build I already have the majority of the parts including an MSI B85-G43 Motherboard.

Also quick question, I heard that the G3258 can only be overclocked by Z87 and Z97 Motherboard chipset, if so, what is the deal with "Overclock Genie" on the B85-G43 that can deliver "enthusiast performance" on a "silver plate" or something like that. How does that work?

Anyone know?
