What are good temps and fan speeds for a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290?

I am looking into overclocking my GPU but I'm new to PC building and looking to get some questions answered.

The only game I am playing currently that strains this card is BF4. I play on Ultra settings and typically average somewhere from 60-80 or so fps depending on the map and whatnot. Depending on what is happening and where I am the fps will drop to about 40 fps every now and then. The card comes factory clocked to 1000MHz (core) and 1300MHz (memory). When playing BF4 the card gets to about 76 degrees at about 43% fan speed.

I would use AMD Catalyst Graphics OverDrive to do any overclocking. Before I go voiding any warranties I would like to know: what are safe temps and fan speeds to run this card at? and how much of an increase in FPS (especially minimum FPS) would overclocking this card yield? would it be worth voiding the the warranty this early (got this card a few days ago) to do so?

Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

That card is rated I believe to 80 C but is starting to get on the warm side. I would try getting the fan speed up above 46% before doing any OC as I would not want to make it run hotter for extended periods as it will shorten lifespan. The gains if it is the bottleneck wouldn't be a lot or noticeable unless you can get some decent gains in speed 100 Mhz plus IMO.

Don't waste money on the tri-x. I know you probably read the reviews and you think its a great card. What you don't know is that most of the so-called "mining" cards have been killed in later revisions including the r9 290 tri-x so while it was worth paying extra when it came out it isn't anymore as there are other cheaper alternatives that are just as good.

A few things. One, if you had read my whole post you would know that I already own the card. And two, if you are going to say that something is a waste of money and that there are better alternatives, please list (and link to) these alternatives. If you don't backup your assertions they are useless to me as I will disregard them because you have given me no reason to believe you.

I apologize, i was reading other posts and was having problems pages not loading up so i made the mistake in thinking you wanted to buy one. As for alternatives any other 290 thats cheaper than the tri-x (excluding the dual one from saphire as its loud as hell).

The 290 tri-x was advertised as an OC monster with unlocked voltage + using hynix video memory however since launch they locked the voltage, used slower elpida memory and the chips used after binning were weaker and could barely handle stock oc.

Ah. Well, unfortunately it is too late now. I notice now that the memory clock on this card is much less then many other cards, worse memory as you said. I feel cheated because the memory clock was not shown in the specifications on Newegg. I assumed the clock speeds and memory were the same as on the Tri-x 290x like the speeds are the same on the Vapor-x 290 and 290x. Based on the reviews this card got I assumed it was a very good deal and I would be safe purchasing it. Now that I have this information, I am pissed.
