Hi,
I'm building a budget gaming rig for 400 dollars for my brother and decided the pentium 3258 would be the perfect choice. I have a few questions. Is it the only pentium gxxxx that can overclock and can I overclock it with a hyper 212 evo and MSI H81M-E33 Micro ATX LGA1150 combination? The gpu I chose is the MSI 260x 2gb for $100. Is 2gb frame buffer too much? BTW he's going to run it in 1600x900 or 1920x1080.
Thanks!

Here's the rest of the build

I, against others opinions would tell you to avoid any MSI product like the plague.
Having just looked seriously at the figures for the pent dual cores fps stats in Tom's hardware review I came to the conclusion the games are scalling back and you would have a much better games experience running a stock i3 on an H 81/91 board. It is unlikely you will be able to clock the g3258 on an H board, tho m.s.i. are saying its feasible. This flies against all experience so far unless intel are divulging chipset code.
Which ever the case, I would not bother with this cpu for games. buy a dead cheap board and an i3 for a more rounded gaming machine.

Would an Athlon x4 760k be a better alternative?

No. the athlon is not even as good as the stock pent g cpu.
Buy the cheap board and i3 and be done with it.
