I am finally getting around to purchasing my build but i just have one more question.
The build i am making is budgeted at ~ $1000

I am not sure if i should go with the Pentium G3258 + a cooler and overclock it hopefully to 4.5+ghz (the Asus H97 boards have multiplier OC'ing now) or go the i5-4460 with the stock cooler.

Here is the rest of the components: (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=326374&action=wish_lists)
Spoiler
Pentium or i5
Phanteks PH-TC14PE (if going with the pentium)
Msi R9 280X Gaming
Kingston 2x4Gb 1600 LP ram
Asus H97 Plus
Seagate Barracuda 500GB
Antec High Current Gamer 620W Modular
Fractal Design Core 2500 Mid Tower

Any input would be appreciated ;)

I'd never put the Pentium in that nice a rig. If you want to OC, look at getting the i5-4690K. It's not that much more expensive than the current i5 you have selected.

deffenetly i5. Pentium is just not enough. You have 1000$ worth of a rig, don't put bad processors in it. I mean it's good, but you need somehing better for 1000$. Get an i5.
