Will a single R9 280 with 2 DisplayPorts drive two 4K monitors? (non-gaming)

I am strongly considering buying two Samsung U28D590D 4K monitors and am hoping to setup a non-gaming rig that will deliver decent desktop performance.

Searching for low-cost cards with dual displayports and a decent amount of memory, some R9 280 cards such as this 3GB one appear to do the job.

Would that single R9 280 power both my 4K displays for standard windows app?

Thanks guys!!!

Well, if I got 2 4k monitors, I would want to run both on display port since DVI is old and HDMI isn't good enough for 4k.

Since you can only find two display ports on amd gpus then I would choose the r9 280.

Which r9 280 are you looking for?

EDIT: Duu, didn't see you already looked at that MSI r9 280. That MSI is excellent, especially since it has 3GB of vram (you need more vram than usual to run 4k).

Thanks very much for taking the time TechyInAZ... this is to build a stable work rig so I don't want to screw this up and have to buy a 2nd card to drive the 2nd 4K display...

The most important application I need to run well on this rig is the DirectX-based CAD tool Altium Designer showing PCBs in full 3D. I'm aiming at about $200-$250 for one single card to drive two 4K Samsung monitors and hopefully non-awful framerates on Altium Designer (e.g. over 10fps)

Do you think a dual displayport R9 280 is about the 'sweet spot' for my needs? What would you get?

Thanks man!! :)
