I have finally decided on my server build and I could use some help as to which motherboard, RAID cards and other parts to get as well as how to set it up.

I am going to use the Norco RPC-4224 instead of a 12 bay tower with 4 drive cages, that will give me 24 drives not including the system drive to split into two separate pools with the second hidden and mirroring the first.

I want to use the ZFS file system and I want this server to be as fast as possible with at least 300MB transfer speeds. Because this is just a server, it doesn't need to have anything more than is necessary for what I want it to do.

I know Windows doesn't play well with ZFS (surprise surprise, go figure...(rolls eyes)) but my plan is to connect my ZFS server to my PC and control it through my PC if that is possible. I have lots of external hard drives and would like to be able to connect to the 4224s front USB ports and transfer data to and from the server directly instead of through my computer.

This is the build I want and so if you have any HELPFUL advice relating to THIS project then I would love to hear it otherwise please move along and allow those with experience related to servers and server configuration to post.
