Some used internet to take shared files from my computer

Someone used my desktop to check there gmail and I think they used it to log in at there house and remove files from my computer. Can they do that?

They can if you turned 'file sharing' ON, and taking files without the owner's express permission is illegal.

In addition, make sure that file sharing is turned OFF on your router settings. It will be a little inconvenient but it is a lot safer.

also run a malware scan and a anti virus scan. if your anti virus is a few years old think of replacing it with avg or avast. also change all of your passwords. may have a keylogger or they may have gotten all of your saved passwords too.

use gmail to log into your computer from their house? NO.

that would require them to set up software on your computer to accomplish the task.

were you there when they checked their gmail account? you would have seen something amiss.
