Too many options to filter through

* Gaming probably limited to WoW but who knows? Dual monitors at high res (probably not relevant to the MB question but thought I'd throw that in there)
* 1 graphics card only
* Intel
* Will do desktop and web programming using .NET and heavy database use (large recordsets in SQL Server and Access)
* USB 3
* SATA III (?, important over 2 yet?)
* May try doing a RAID configuration someday
* Partial to Gigabyte
* SSD + traditional disks for data

Not sure what other details are useful. Don't have processor/memory yet, open. I really think I only need the simplest MB, I never touched my last one for years. I would like to stay under $100, any size MB that will have a place for the GPU. May want to put other stuff in like TV tuner, sound card (are those even used anymore or are onboard audio options pretty good now?)

Thanks,

Joel

Thank you all. Budget, just the least possible that will get me a system that will fulfill my needs :)

I have a 650 watt PS and a 1 GB video card, hard drives so I shouldn't have to buy those. I need MB, CPU and memory. My old one is the DDR2 and of course the CPU is the older socket.

The H81 chip set should have the same performance, at stock speeds.
They are cheaper because, they have less ports.
ie, You only get 2 SATA3 ports, but most only need 1.
less USB
Less memory slots
ect.

If you can get away with the ports on the H81, then the performance is the same, at
stock speeds.

The I3 will still run any video card, but when programs or games can use more than 2 cores, it falls behind.

I got the 3.4 gig i5, but the slightly slower ones, can save money with little loss of performance.

4 gig of RAM is enough for most games, but 8GIG will be better, and starting to be more necessary.

What brand is your power supply.
The label is a lie, if it is not a brand name.
