hello and peace to all.

i searched heaps for solution for this problem and haven't found one
i bought a new pc. installed winows 8.1.
everything was good except for watching videos. also bs player and also windows media player
just leave black bars. and sometimes in the middle of the video starts changing and leave bug black bars on the side and then plays with the zoom like and leave a smaller pucture with big borders and then come back. its like it gone crazy.
auto pan and scan on bs player solved half of the problem but there still bordersand it still go crazy in the middle of the video.
it sucks because its a new pc
and because im in israel and we get hit by rockets
(less relevant).
anyway thanks a lot in advance for doing such a holy work helping each other

try a better media player like VLC player. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.en_GB.html
it has options for aspect ratios which you can set on a per film basis. so if you need to stretch a 16/9 movie to get rid of borders you can...
the problem is most old movies are either at 4:3 aspect letterboxed or 2.21:1 aspect both will leave borders on a 16/9 screen. 4:3 at the sides and 2.21:1 at the top and bottom so unless you decide to crop the image your always gonna have border issues... (but hey you live in isreal you should be used to that.... badum!) lol...
but seriously mate try a different player that has better aspect control options.

and my work aint holy... its air tight...

What videos and from where?

It really depends on how the original video was recorded.

Bsplayer can also be a problem, especially if you downloaded it from an a false site; The official website is www.bsplayer.com

I actually like bsplayer for the zoom feature with the mouse and it is not relegated to just 5% 10% 20% etc. it goes from 1% to 2% 3%.....701% 702%, etc.

thanks a lot u guys i appreciate ur help and dedication of time
using bs player is important to me because it finds subs automatically and its very comfortable but its also happens on wmp.
the aspect ratio doesn't solve it (maybe the borders but not the getting crazy in the middle of the video and start changing the size of picture and borders).
it happens on all kind of videos. movies and tv shows. new from torrents (sorry- although i have a theory that they allow it so people in poorer places would have access to knowledge etc). br rip i tried to re download bs player.
and im from tel aviv we have no such thing as borders here. lol
thanks again and drive safe

sometimes when an image starts corrupting while watching movies it means the player has a codec issue.
either you have installed conflicting codec packs or your missing a codec.
you will get things like green bars, colour overlap (like watching a 3d movie without the red and blue glasses), aspect ratio switching and more.

so check for missing/corrupt codecs. having 2 codecs that can handle the same formats can cause issues if there both selected and active.

uninstal all the codecs and try this. http://download.cnet.com/Windows-7-Codec-Pack/3000-1363...
should work with win 8 aswell.
