Looking to get Network storage and backup

I want to get a network storage unit that I can back up to and backs itself up. I am not good with Networking and Raid so, software and ease of use is important

So, if someone could point me toward a brand with good software and will not put me in the poor house

what have you got for the nas to backup to?

Qnap and Synology are probably the top two nas makers. Both a reputable and reliable. I think Synology is a bit easier on the user end. Both will backup themselves to an attached usb drive.

the cheapest solution would be to build yourself a Nas box and run something like freenas, openfiler, openmedia vault, amahi home server, windows home server, flexraid, nas4free... (you get the idea). <-- most of those are free by the way.
