There are many memory compatibility tests on the internet. G Skill has one that you could use to check if your motherboard is compatible with that speed.
 

1. It has to be desktop memory, not laptop or ECC server memory.
2. Has to be DDR3 version.
3. (Low Priority) RAM clock speed. The reason this doesn't matter so much is that you can underclock RAM if the motherboard doesn't support running them at their default clock speed.
