Has anyone replaced Dell Vostro 420 motherboard? Is it necessary to backup C drive? Does Windows XP Pro need to be reinstalled? Any other complications? Thank you.

Thanks i7Baby. It would be a Dell replacement (probably refurbished). It may be possible that Dell has released several motherboards for that computer with changes/updates in them. Would that be different enough to result in a non-compatibility issue or other unforeseen issues? The current motherboard is functioning, after a reboot and has had no other problems to date (5 years). Am I better off living with the current motherboard and hoping that there is no intermittent problem? Keyboard had stopped functioning while entering and would not function after trying different USB ports. Keyboard did work when plugged into laptop. It appeared that keyboard was directly using the port connected to the motherboard, but that may have been an incorrect diagnosis. You now know as much as I do.
