Hey all,

I have a GA-H77-D3H-MVP Gigabyte motherboard and it says i can have ram speeds of 1056/1333/1600 and OC 2200 but when i try to overclock my ram in the bios the multiplyer only lets the ram to overclock to 1600 in XMP i tried disabling the profile and manually edit the multiplier to 2200 but dose not stick and when i press enter it makes the ram clocks to 800mhz ... if anything above 1600 it also can be changed to 1400mhz but cant be anything above 1600mhz because when i try it just makes the clocks 800mhz i tried 1866 and 2133 and 2100 and 2300 but still it makes the clocks 800mhz when ever i press enter when i try to apply the speeds

its the same with the cpu the cpu is Intel i5 3450 on the intel website it says it can be set to 3.5 but when ever i try it sets it to 3.3 it wont go any higher otherwise it just reverts to 3.1 when ever i try to change it plus when i gave up and left it at 3.3 i did a reset of the pc and went to the desktop after saving the settings only for to see the cpu only running 3.1 not 3.3 even though it was set in the bios as 3.3

the ram i am using is Kingston HyperX 1600mhz c9 ram

if anyone can help with this so i can overclock my ram and cpu to what the motherboard says it will allow and the cpu of what intel says the cpu will allow that would be helpful

It dose not need to be a K series Intel CPU for it to be able to overclock .. just cant overclock as high or as much as you can.

If the motherboard was not meant to overclock why dose the board in specs say the ram can overclock to 2200 ..

For the I3-I5-I7 it has to be a K to OC
and your motherboard could OC RAM not CPU
you can't overclock.

Ok then how about you tell me how to fix the problem with my overclocking ram

and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgyAGZrEiz4 << Intel 3450 do some research before you say about the overclocking of a non K model

Ya sorry i didn't know that but i do know that The i5 3450 has a multiplier limit of 39 for a max OC of 3.9ghz
and you can't achieve it without a Z77-Z87 motherboard
with the H77 you kinda can't

Well i am just trying to get it up to 3.5 no more then that which is what the CPU is suppose to accept but dose not can only 3.3 but when i save the settings it dose not change it from 3.1 to 3.3

Because of the NON OC motherboard you can't OC with a non OC Motherboard

Then why dose it allow me to change it in the bios if it cant be overclocked ? and why is the ram able to overclock but wont ?

and http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1914307 on the " cant overclock a h77 with the cpu " it dose sorry

Dude you can't Overclock on your Motherboard thats it in the bios in the windows in anything you just can't Overclock with an H77 Motherboard.
about the RAM i don't know but all i know that whatever you do you can't OC on this motherboard not now or then or ever

Ok if you did read that link i just gave Intel told the person with the overclocking on a H77 that he could with a Ivy CPU i have a Ivy CPU its a i5 3450 3rd Gen Processor so i can overclock and overclocking is done in the bios if i can change a multiplier in the bios then it can be overclocked to that number the multiplier allows

The Ram says on the specs of the motherboard it can overclock the Ram to 2200 but its not allowing me to overclock it any higher then 1600 and that's the main reason of the post of why it says i can but in the bios it wont let me why dose the motherboard on the offical manufactures website say it can be overclock the ram to 2200 but when in the bios and 3rd party software's it wont let me.. if u cant answer it then why even post

Ok then when you OC your I5 i'll say that i was wrong but until now am still right.
and you could look at guides for OCing to try to OC your I5 but they won't work if they do please tell

The Ram you could use OCing guides that exist everywhere they could help you achieve what you want but anyway OCing your ram to 2200 won't do you any difference you won't get a use of it

actually for games the 2200 shows 1-3fps more then 1600

but i know 1866 dose a better job and if my mobo can some how overclock to 2200 could it not overclock to 1866 ? due to its in between both 1600 and 2200

it dose not say it can be changed to 1400mhz but when changing the multiplier i could change it to 1400mhz it would be weird if a mobo could just jump from 1600mhz to 2200mhz so once i am able to overclock it to 2200mhz i want to try to get it at 1866mhz because it cant just jump from 1600mhz to 2200mhz it would have to go past all the 1866 and 2100 and 2133mhz to get to 2200mhz

and 1866 dose show up to 5+ frames in games plus also i do a lot of 3D modeling so better cpu frequency and ram frequency would be beneficial for me not just for games
