Are these two PSUs the same? (i can't tell… and one is a lot more £s)

Hi,

sorry to ask what's probably an obvious question…

i'm after a 'Seasonic M12II-850 BRONZE ATX 850 Power Supply'
I've found two versions on amazon.co.uk.. both seem the same to me but ones £80~ more..

First one is SS850AM2 second is SS850AM older and discontinued. They have the same ratings but the new version is fully modular versus semi modular.

Are you running two cards in crossfire? Why u need such big PSU?

(yes they are the same)

Hi, thanks for your replies :)

Yeah i'm running two 290x vaporx Trix 4GB - in crossfire.

So the cheaper one is the newer/better one? - makes sense as the seller is: Seasonic..
and the more expensive one is a random seller who only has one left in stock ^^…

thank you very much - just saved me a bunch of cash ;) and got a better PSU.

i just found out that it is shipped with a continental power plug…
I'm in the U.K… and i guess i'll need an adapter… - but that worries me, could an adapter bottle neck my PSU?
god, nothings simple ;)

No it would not but really the power cord on PSU's is std on the PSU side and you may have an old UK one laying around or you can just pick one up for same or less than the adapter.

Really appreciate the advice rolli59,

i'm sorry i'm so clueless - but i'm not familiar with the 'STD'.. - what would i purchase instead of an adapter? (for the same or less)

after this i think i'm finally ready to buy the sodding thing. :)
i've spent far too long figuring out my rig (~8weeks) hehe...

so there is no 'special' PSU - power cord…. it's just your bog standard kettle plug? :) doesn't need some special wattage, or bandwidth, resistor or other craziness?
(i'm gonna go with the second one you suggested ;) )

5 amps fused is good for 5 x 230= 1150watts! Just a normal power cord the rest happens inside the PSU.
