os for gaming

Solution
get windows 8, and then get windows 8.1 update, trust me, it's awesome, I hesitated at first but if you actually want better performance get the one I mentioned, and since you are gaming, linux based systems would be out of the question...
don't forget to choose best answer :), it'll help others too.
P.S.: it's 99,99 on newegg and NCIX right now

Well, you are only gaming so no, it is a big fat waste of money. Get Windows 8 if you want to have security updates for longer but Win 7 is still pretty good, if you can get it cheaper than Win 8

what games will not run? i use win8.1, and I played HM:BM, CS:S, AC1,2,Brotherhood, GTA:SA, and NFS carbon recently on my system and they all ran fine, I use a r7 260x at the moment on 720p VGA display... and what's more you get ultra fast boot times, better performance, less bugginess, and a clean metro UI, which you can use if you like, the only thing is it takes a few hours to get everything set up the way you want it to be and is you don' t mind dishing out a few bucks on start is back you can even get start is back to get your win7 start menu back...

It does not increase your boot times, if something, it should increase them as it is carrying the load of two OSes so it weighs more. Boot times are increased by your HDD or SSD( if you have one) I know that an SSD gives you lightning fast times but that's it

actually a newer OS always gives you faster boot times, even more so with a ssd, just google it and see some videos of it to see for yourself...
