Hi

I am really tempted to upgrade my PC boot drive to a SSD. Are they often problematic ? Can they be imaged and restored with imaging software such as Macrium Reflect Standard, Acronis True Image etc..

Thank you

Solution
They used to be problematic several years ago, and even then not all of them. Today, they have matured and they are very reliable. At least quality brands, like intel, samsung, crucial, sandisk... the list goes on. I have yet to see a single issue with them. Yes, they can be imaged and restored just like regular hdds. I would certainly advise to get one, you will love it.

Would not be used in a RAID setup. Only one (boot drive) used in combination with 2 other HDDs for data storage. This would be on a Home PC. I would really like to be able to image and restore the image if something goes wrong.

I image my PC now (full image weekly) and believe me, it saved my butt on a number of occasions. I'd rather stick to HDDs if SSDs cannot be imaged without problems. Drive imaging is an important process in my PC maintenance.

Thank you
