I am looking for the best r9 270x and so far, from reviews, these are the best. I have heard better about the toxic but they both seem convincing. Which one will give the best performance? Particularly in fps. This will be paired up with an AMD fx-6300

Both are a waste of money, You can get Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X OC for almost the same price.

The coolers on the "non-x" series are made to work with the "X" series, that is why most non-x radeon cards can easily OC to the X series performance or close...

The Sapphire toxic= it has better cooling and more room for OCing as it gives you max everything out of the card
But as BigBadBeef said its a waste of money and you can get a 280 for better gaming http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9280gaming...

would the 280 have noticeably better gaming or just a little?

Yes
The R9 280 will be more powerful. The r9 270X toxic is more for the people looking for aesthetics.
Also the R9 280 can be overclock to near stock speed of a R9 280X or more depending on your luck
I would totally go 280 and you can't beat a 200$ 280 :p

Better get R9 280x not R9 280 for much better gaming performance. Otherwise stick with R9 270x.

The difference in this case is noticeable, guaranteed playable framerates at max settings, 1080p. Anything above R9 280X doesn't pay off anymore, but I digress.

I also see that the gtx 770 is around the price of the 280x , would you still go with the 280x? and also the 760 is around the same price as the 280

Sorry for late reply. Definitely Sapphire. In order of preference the brands are EVGA, Sapphire, MSI, Asus, Gigabyte and so on. I would still emphasize to get R9 280X if you have budget.

When you can get a 280 and OC it to the 280X then you got yourself a card thats better then the 770 and when you get a 280 thats 200$ (MSI) and you have the performance of the 770 and more then i wouldn't beat that
but if you have the money for the 280x you could get it and OC it to the R9 290

I Would go with the 280 and OC it to the 280x OR THE 280X and OC it to the 290

R9 280X is at apar with 770 and in some games it even beats 770 but again that would depend upon the type of games that you play like BF4 is very r good for Mantle i.e AMD cards while some games heavily used PhysiX which ix exclusive to nVIDIA.

My recommendation to you is R9 280X if you have budget

So you recommend AMD over Nvidia? When I researched about AMD I have heard about a lot of driver problems are they THAT noticeable that it interrupts gameplay? The games I would play the most are bf4, dayz, arma 3, and others in that sort. My main concern is smooth game play and high quality

Nonsense that doesn't happen all people have AMD cards and they are all freaking happy and there is no such thing as something that interrupts the gameplay from the driver.
BF4 has mantle support so you'll be doing 60FPS+ on ultra save money and go for AMD

Please, don't generalize one's experience as a whole. Someone may be having problem with driver or the card but then search the nVIDIA forums as well you will find similar sort of issues there as well. Don't make comparison based on that.

Strictly saying, this thread is purely based on AMD because of your query. So why are you asking that I prefer AMD over nVIDIA?

What do you mean by interrupting the game play?

because you mentioned nvidia and i see that the they are around the same price, so i was wondering your opinion on the two. and by interrupting the game play i mean bad frame rate drops, flickering, and blue screens, or anything like that, it wasnt just from one person i have heard from a decent number of people.

nVIDIA was for reference purpose only. Problems which you've mentioned can come on any card regardless of the manufacturer. nVIDIA's drivers also crash. Mine one also crashed in the past but that was due to poor overclocking attempt.

Anyhow, coming over to the subject, Sapphire Toxic is recommended over gigabyte.

Regards and sorry for late reply :)

270 Toxic is a bit worthless, for its cost you can land a decent 280 or even 280X, which will be better.

Looking back at this list, would you trust XFX with a gpu? I'm not sure if I asked this before I have been up since early this morning so my mind is a bit foggy. And also I have two last questions, would overclocking on an amd card such as the 280/280x be better on say a 760 or770, I know you or someone said the 280x will out perform it, and also would crossfire be better with the 280/280x or would it be better to sli the 760 or 770? just to know in advance

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. We are back on nVIDIA. :)

First of all make sure that your mobo supports SLI and crossfire. Like I mentioned earlier performance of 770 is at par with R9 280x. So SLI of 770 would be at par with the crossfire of R9 280x. But here, 770 has a certain advantage which is its lower TDP. It will put less stress on your PUS than R9 280x.

nVIDIA or AMD? What do want dear? :)

Since I see in benchmarks that AMD cards seem to hit a little more fps in the games I like, I might just go with the 280 and overclock it unless i can get a little more money for the 280x since im trying to keep the cost as low as possible. I see on Newegg there is a Sapphire dual-x r9 280 for $219.99.
