Thinking about getting this one. Seems alright to me.

Things to consider for my build: I don't plan on OC'ing right now(as this is my first build), gonna start out with just one MSI r9 290 GAMING gpu (may get another one wayyyy down the line)...

Generally, I'll be okay as long as this mobo just gets the job done decently. I don't really care if it isn't too high end.

Also, would I be better off with this one since I am don't plan on OCing? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h97gaming3

If I am not mistaken, mobos with an 'H' in it don't support OCing?

I plan on playing games like bf4 and dark souls 2

well (this may be a dumb question), how long do mobos typically last? If it could last for a good while then there's a possibility I might want to OC in the future.

thanks for the reply...

So does that mean that my z97 g45 will last me less than that (since that one seems to be better)?

Could you please illaberate on the broadwell and g3258? Don't know what those are. Couldn't find much on a search.

g3258 is the refresh haswell series. Its an intel pentium K version. That means that i can OC it unlike rest pentiums and i3 series-i5 non-k series. broadwell will be the new generation of intel cpu's. 5th generation. I spent 60euros for that cpu(g3258), cause i was budget tight and was looking to build a good pc, 1 piece per month, sorta. Z97 g45 will last you 3-4 years at least. Its a z97, sort of new chipset. What cpu u planning to get?

In order to save a little doe, I got the unOCable i5 4460. I kinda doubt I will ever need to OC. Not entirely sure why people do it in the first place, in order to get it just "that little bit faster". But if I were to suddenly decide to OC would I need a better cooler (out of curiosity)?

I actually decided to do a kind of major change up so that I can save some additional cash.

Instead of the i5 4460 and MSI z97 g55, I am getting the AMD FX-6300 and the ASRock 990FX Extreme9. I've heard that the fx 6300 is an excellent cpu even for being slightly dated. I've heard mixed things about the 990FX, some bad and some good. My main concern with the Extreme9 is the overclockability. I know with another version, also by ASRock, that it doesn't overclock well. I am trying to experiment with OCing with this first build of mine.

Some I am considering are:
Asus M5A99FX Pro 2.0

Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z

Also I am really hoping I don't have to order from Asus because I hear they have shit customer service and tech support xD
