yes if u have a gpu and you are connecting your display cables to your mobo socket then the gpu is worthless and mainly you will get no display..so use the dvi/hdmi/vga cables to connect the monitor with the gpu...

My bad my motherboard does not have a hdmi port and, my gpu does so do I just take the cable and insert it to the gpu and the monitor?
