Differences in these motherboards, I'm not certain.

Hi,

Sorry this will sound trivial to some but my motherboard knowledge is pretty poor.

I am looking at a new motherboard to replace my Asus Crosshair V-Z as I want to get a new Devil Canyon's i7 to replace my current FX-8350.

I want to go with MSI Preferably, but if anybody knows a better EVGA one they are another brand I like (I'm brand loyal and that's probably stupid I know)

It will be running with 16GB of AMD Gamer RAM and an MSI Lighting 780.

I've gathered the basics, one doesn't have WiFi, they all have intel LAN and the SATA Ports differ (I only need 4).

I don't really plan on over-clocking that much, might push it .1 or .2ghz as I have currently but doubt I'll have a real need.

The three I was looking at are:

Any help would be appriciated, I'm using it for Gaming at the moment but about to start a Systems Engineering course. I will be a student so won't be SLIing the 780s for a while.

Second one is out of stock, so best buy would be the first one. The last one (XPower) has more features that you won't use. It has more overclocking buttons built into the motherboard, a stand that allows you to position a fan right near the CPU, a switch that turns on/off each PCIe slot, etc. Again, just small things you won't care about. And it's a lot more expensive.

The MPower is the entry model of the overclocking motherboards from MSI, factory tested for overclock it features good components and stable power phases. The MPower Max packs more characteristics than the previous, like wifi and the possibility to use water cooling for the VRM, more onboard buttons for OC. The XPower is the flagship of MSI overclocking series with the highest quality components and features they can offer, included all of the MPower boards.

VRM water cooling isnt that necessary unless you got for hardcore overclocking, same as with the onboard buttons.

Is the only real difference with the second one the WiFi?

I don't have to buy from overclockers but doubt I'll get an Intel WiFi card on its own for the £40 difference.

Cheers for the reply though.

"the possibility to use water cooling for the VRM"
If you are familiar with the Asus Maximus Formula, you will know what I am talking about. But that is a feature you may or not use, since custom water cooling systems are expensive.
