Ok, currently I am using the ATH-M50s and a Microsoft headset (LifeChat), and I am kinda getting annoyed because I am wearing both, one for the audio quality and one for the mic (Mic quality is ok.).

I have exactly 300$ to spend, that has to include shipping. I want a good headset with good audio quality and a good mic with voice quality. Do not offer ModMic, I won't want to use it. I did try to find a good one, but it either had terrible mic quality or terrible audio quality. Any suggestions?

what exactly is wrong with the modmic? it has quality levels as good as or better than most headsets and it is totally removeable so it will not damage your headphones. its also possible to strap a boom mic of another style onto the headphones also. or, you could use that budget and get a "good" quality microphone like a atr2500 ($99 for a whole kit including boom, mic and pop filter) or a better mic like the at2020usb ($120) which will give you much better voice quality while still keeping the m50s for your audio.

if you want something which will give you anything close to the quality of sound the m50s have you need studio headphones, period. since this is the case you would need to either use a modmic, a desk microphone or buy one of...

TLDR:
normal headsets are going to sound worse than your current headphones and its likely not worth replacing them unless you do not like how the m50s sound. i would say either use a desk mic or a boom mic.

Problem with the ModMic is that it requires you to have a decent sound card, which I do not have, I am on an Asus G74, and the audio through the sound card when using a mic is quite terrible. Also I didn't say I needed the audio to be as good or better than my ATH-M50s, I said I wanted good audio quality.

Well, what would a good mic be, I have looked at the podcaster, which I am quite keen on, but I have kind of put it off due to me having to sit quite close to my monitor because of my low vision.

you could always use an external soundcard paired up to your laptop if you do not like your internal soundcard for some reason. you could also use it with your headphones and give them a boost in quality too so it does 2 things at once.

i think that would be money better spent then replacing the headphones too but thats just my own opinion on the issue.

i think that unless you went with a studio-headphones based headset (such as the ones i listed) you would be disappointed by the audio in comparision since you are used to the m50s by now.

i listed a few mics in my prior post that arent all that expensive but which have good audio quality.
