My case is the corsair 300r and has a dust filter on the bottom but my case will be on carpet. (Carpet is pretty long) so should I have the fan facing down or just face it up?

More about : power supply fan

I would install it face up if possible. Having it on carpet can cause you to suffocate your PSU and kill it.

It really does not matter, it all depends. Read the power supply manual and what it says. Usually it will not matter. I built a PC a couple of weeks ago, and it says it does not matter, but they recommend downwards, However, it did not fit but did the opposite way. That is what I did, and had no problems. It is all personal preference. :)

His will be on carpet, and carpet can cause issues.

He could put a plank of wood or cardboard. That way the PSU can get cool air rather than the warm one from the CPU and GPU.

Yes that would work too. I had my pc on a mat while it was on the carpet.

So would you recommend putting it facing down and keep cardboard under it? Will It Make A Big Difference If It's Facing Up or down?

Not by much. If the inside of the case is properly cooled then it's fine. It will merely lower the temp at which the PSU runs at. I would do it. Have some painted piece of acrylic or anything that is flat and solid as well as sturdy so as to not cause the system to lose balance.

There isn't much of a difference besides having it face up will cause a little less dust to get in your PSU.

Make sure whatever you put it on, isn't going to bend or flex. Cardboard may flex and could eventually cause an issue.

Put down a flat board for the tower and face the fan down.
