Computer Using 30 GB out of 32

... And this can be something as simple as using notepad.

I've had this computer for years - upgraded to 32 GB of RAM at Christmas there - and I've never had any issues like this. I'm thinking it's a memory leak, but my task manager and resource monitor do -NOT- justify 30 GB of Ram being used! I've ran antimalware, Avast, rogue killer, tdsskiller, superantispyware, RAMRush or something along those lines; the list really does go on. My CPU usage is at 14% (not sure if that relates), my RAM usage is climbing as we speak. The program taking up the most RAM is... Firefox, at 456,050. I have tried uninstalling it incase it's responsible for the memory leak and its made little difference.

In my Resource Monitor, there's something taking up 10 hard faults. The number's growing. Is this responsible for the memory leak? The program is MsMpEng.exe

Please help me out guys, it's rather stressful having all this RAM eaten up when I invested in so much! :<

EDIT: I thought Windows Defender might be responsible for this, but it's turned off.

I'll impart what little knowledge I have. A "hard fault" happens when your system cannot find the data it's looking for in memory and goes to the hard drive to get it, it's nothing to worry about.

As to your memory usage, how big is this file you're trying to open in notepad? I certainly know that the program will use more memory than the size of the file but even I have to admit that 30GB is pushing it somewhat.

The wonderful thing is that... the note pad will be an empty document. xD I bought 32 GB as I use CPU rendering for my 3D artwork; I was told multiple times my system would NEVER use or need that amount. Especially not when I have nothing open. -_- Thank you for the response!

Windows Defender is already turned off. I've tried suspending it through the Resource Moniter tab, now just to see if that'll make any difference. ;-; Thank you for the reply!

Hi again - I have a problem with numbers, so bear with me. My computer's using 29 GB of RAM as I type, but the program using the highest amount of RAM is proexp64.exe at 545,300 K and around the same for Working Set.

The next is firefox at 323,992, it only goes down hill from there.

I just can't fathom what's causing this, and I've run all three tests, and no difference has been made. ;-;

I honestly don't know where to start with deleting things - the most RAM expensive ones are the ones necessary to me..;-;

I just might have fixed it, people!

I downloaded a program called CleanMem, and now the Memory Leak has seemingly disappeared! It's been sitting at 3 GB for about four hours now. WHOOOO!!!! :B
