Asus Maximus Z97 Hero onboard sound vs Asus Xonar Phoebus?

I remember JJ saying that the on Board sound on the Formula series is equivalent to the $89 Xonar solution. Don't recall exactly on the Hero but IIRC, it was the equivalent of the $49 Xonar. Another forum member said it was a custom version of the Realtek 1150.\
Should be aware of this tho..... this bug apparently also affecting Z97 boards if ya look at newegg customer reviews.

I been waiting 9 months for a fix.....one was announced long time ago but it's temporary.... new BIOS were announced Jun 11 but no sign yet.
I have switched to the MSI GD65 which has been running $40 cheaper for the same feature set.
