I'm Considering buying a R9 280X Graphics card in instead of my Radeon 5870. So my question is, is my power supply sufficient? (Energon EPS-750W 4x +12V 20A Rails also with a 6 and 8 pin connecter)

The rest of my Spec:
- Asus P6T Motherbord
- i7 920 2,66 Ghz Processor with aftermarket cooler (Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO) Going to overclock the CPU Soon. hopefully to around 4 Ghz.
- Seagate 2T SSHD Harddisk
- 6x 2Gb DDR3 Kingston Ram 667 Mhz PC3-10700

And 2 Case Coolers

It didnt work!

Solution
Okay, so it provides a total of 54A on the +12V rail. That is plenty assuming that it can provide that much. It's never good to go off advertised numbers because the PSU may not actually output the advertised wattage. That happens a lot with power supplies from a not-well-known brand. I still recommend replacing it.

But the PSU should be fine. A R9 280X requires a minimum of 21A on the +12V rail. So there is plenty of room.
Hmm ... I think they may have updated their line. Although it really matters very little because members here would recommend that you upgrade the PSU to a better one.

Can you take a picture of the label in the PSU? The part where you see the 4x +12V 20A.

Solution

An R9 280X has a maximum power draw rating of 250W. For the graphics card itself, it requires a minimum of 21A. If you are talking about the entire system, then there may be some truth to your statement.

Okay so i bought the XFX R9 280X and installed new drivers and so on, and it runs World of Warcraft on and Hearthstone in ultra settings, BUT if i try to play Theif 4, Diablo 3 or Orcs must die 2 - The pc suddenly reboots after 1 min og playing, no warning, no error masseges or anything. just a sudden shoutdown followed by a auto startup.?

Could it be anything other than the PSU, i really dont have a lot of money, and i dont wanna spent it on a new PSU if the problem might reside elsewhere... plz help
