someone say that the mobo phases power will affect cpu oc.
why gigabyte Z97X-GAMING 7 only use 8 phases power?
other like asus msi(Z97-PRO,Z97-GAMING7),use 12 phases power?
why?

sorry,my fault,Z97X-GAMING 5 use 8 phases is correct.
i just got wrong with Z97X-GAMING5 and Z97N-GAMING5.....SORRY

Power phases are widely advertised as increasing the ability to OC by providing clean steady power, and many love to claim the more the better - now then that can be true, but the real problem with that thinking is that people just accept it as fact, when in truth it all depends on how well the power phase design is implemented and in many cases it's not done all that well.....If it was true the more the better then all you would see is is power phase designs like GB introduced in some of their 1156 mobos (24 phase) back in 2009 - problem was, they didn't OC for c***. So just because a mobo has 12 or 16 or whatever power phases, it 'MIGHT' mean something, but not necessarily....

If you ever upgrade, don't buy an MSI. Just don't. Second-cheaper motherboards use less power phases because they are designed for less power hungry CPUs. More power phases=higher OC capability (generally).

Where did you get that 4 phase spec? The black edition has 12 phases.

Why is that? MSI has some good motherboards, especially their MPOWER / XPOWER series.

The reliability is shaky in my opinion. For the money I would rather hit up an ASUS.

I just get the msi z97 gaming 5
work well, havent get any problem at all

I think more power phases is need for overclocking, but not for the other issue
well, I still think more power phases is better anyway

No no no! For the money you will drop on an MSI, get an ASUS. I have one from 2006 that I STILL overclock with to this day!
