Hey everyone I really need help. I am building my first PC and I have bought all the components except just waiting on the RAM to come in the mail. Anyway I bought the PSU from ebay which is a Corsair RM 850w. The listing said it was 3 months old and it was bought from scorptec and a receipt can be supplied bla bla bla so I bought it. Now the guy didn't send all the cables specifically he left out the 24pin and some 6 and 8 pins which I need to power my crossfire r9 290's. So I asked him to send them and he did so they should be arriving in the mail very soon, he also didn't send the receipt so I have to chase him up on that. But getting to the point, he said he sold the PSU because it didn't start because he was trying to run r9 290's in crossfire and he believes that they are the reason the PSU didn't start. Of course I didn't find this out till after I bought it. He didn't say if it started with just one r9 290. Anyway I find his post on here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2108550/r290-crossfire-system-turn.html
tell me what you guys think. Are my parts going to blow up because the PSU is damaged?

The first batch of RM PSUs was pretty much defective but Corsair sold them anyway.

This review tells it all:

Try running your system without the Graphics card and using integrated graphics on your board and see if it starts. If your system starts, it could be a faulty gpu. Also check your board for an LED indicator as it can help with troubleshooting. IMO it could be a bad PSU
