I have an old ide lightscribe burner that i would like to use in my new build that has only sata ports and I have seen other threads with converters but no one clarified if any of them worked or not. The ones i have also found usually state hard drive or nothing in specific, so I'm kind of at a loss of what to buy since i hate ordering wrong parts.

Some converters work for optical drives, some don't, it's impossible to be specific about which ones do work.
It'll be less hassle if you buy a new lightscribe burner. I don't care for Lightscribe anyway as it forces you to buy
disc brands which support it instead of buying the brand you trust the most for data integrity.

I prefer to buy inkjet printable Verbatim discs, unlike lightscribe you can use colour and it's clearer to read on a plain white background.
