Hi guys. I got a problem here with my windows 7 desktop. There's that one "windows error recovery" that says "windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause", and it tells me to use the installation disc and repair the computer, which I did try and fail. The computer restarted and went back to the same instruction. I did try to go to safe mode or the Last known good configuration, but they both failed and the computer restarted over and over again. How can I solve this problem. Please help. Thanks a lot.

Some info:
cpu: Intel core i5,
Chipset: Intel H67 Express
OS: Windows 7 64 bit

*I did try the startup recovery, safe mode, etc but it doesn't work it just restarts
*There is no error code I could find

ps I know i can reset to factory setting but I do wanna keep my stuff

I am looking for some other way to solve the problem. Thanks.

Solution
Remove your drives and go carefully and thoroughly through Tom's checklist to make sure the pc posts - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-ste...

Thank you for your reply again. I went through the checklist and I did not find any problems in the hardware. I think it must be about the software. (this computer wasn't newly built. I have been using it for two years already)

As for the other info:
Monitor: Samsung E2220X
Graphic Cards: come with the chipset
motherboard: ASUS P8H67-M
cpu: intel core i5
ram: 4 G
os: win 7 home premium 64 bit
hdds: 500 G

That's all the information I got. Hope you can help me.

but I dont really know the details. Yes it is kinda pre-built when I got it from NCIX (a store like bestbuy), it is already built. All I did was plug it in. (sorry I am no expert)

but generally I believe it is some kind of a software problem, not hardware, and I hope you can offer me an answer to solve my problem, which is booting the pc.
