So, I was on a budget to force that Intel i5-4690K to R9 290X (actually upgrading my last build which is FX 8320) but the Z97 and Z87 are so expensive I can't push any dollars/peso to have it so I was reseaching and I found out that ASUS mobos support overclocking Intel Haswell and Refresh processors but another thing that keeps me wondering is ASUS does not sure if it will overclock it so what do you think ? I'm getting the ASUS H97M-E.

Apparently it is possible to OC an Asus H97 mobo under certain conditions and with an appropriate CPU: http://www.techpowerup.com/202196/asus-enables-overcloc...

All of this could change with a CPU microcode change from Intel.

Your best bet is to get a Z97 mobo.
