how will 14 nm architecture affect performance ? what does architecture have to do with it

i have heard that 14 nm architectue will be there in 5th generation intel processors . i want to know how does that make a difference . can somebody please explain it .

The decrease in the die size makes the chip run cooler and at the same time give better performance.

smaller die size on the same architecture, mean less heat, which mean it can run higher clock, that mean better performance.

Smaller die sizes do not automatically bring reductions in heat, and actually, 'shrinks' can introduce more heat as chip logic is more closely packed and expanded.

What it really means is that a manufacturer can harvest more chips per wafer due to the smaller die size ...
