Hi

I am currently using AMD turion 64x2 Processor and 1.5 GB RAM. My 120 SATA I 2.5" HDD is broke (when I switch on the laptop it says HDD error and I can hear a ticking sound from HDD)

Can I get my HDD repaired?

Right now I need to buy a new HDD and only 500 SATA HDD are available can my system cope with 500GB HDD? as I said it is 1.5 GB RAM, AMD 1.6 GhZ Processor. And it is SATA I interface 500 HDD are SATA III interface?

Please let me know thank you

You can get the HD repaired, but it will cost quite a bit, check with your local PC shops or look for a data repair service online.

You can use a 500gig drive with your system just fine, but make sure the height matches what your laptop can hold. I'm assuming it's a laptop since it's a 2.5" drive.

You should also up the RAM a bit to help with performance, 4 gig is pretty much the standard now and should help offset the slower CPU.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have 500 HDD in my laptop right now, it is fine so far. My old Samsung HDD is 9.5mm this is 7mm still fits perfect in the steel bracket. so they named it Seagate Smart Align technology. I can go for higher RAM my RAM has speed 533 MHz, DDR2 4200 PC, 200 pin but I find RAM with different speed.

I will get repaired old HDD later
