Re-Install Gone Wrong

How do I get drivers downloaded using another PC across to this laptop?

My Dell laptop (Vostro 3450) was behaving very badly thanks to a 'friend' installing dodgy software resulting in Windows throwing tantrums and viruses setting up home.

So I purchased a fresh copy of Windows 7 (64 bit) and followed the instructions for a custom install to wipe the laptop. All fine.

Then I got the error msg everyone reports "Windows did not detect networking hardware" ... and reading the forums I figured out that all the drivers are now gone. So I went to the Dell site to download the drivers for this laptop (it recommended 57 of them). It also recommended instead of selection "download" to select "download to ios file" saving to USB for easy transfer to my problem laptop. Great. 2.2Gb later I now have a file on my USB ... but it does not magically activate when I plug it into the problem laptop. The file is visible. But how do I get it doing something?

I also read that I'm supposed to install these drivers in a special order. But how do I get them listed out so I can select them in order?

Sorry. This is all probably really obvious to you, but I'm lost. All advice is really appreciated.

Thank you !!!!

You need to Unpack the .iso file before you can use it. If you are planning on using a usb drive, use this program:
http://www.isotousb.com/ When you go through, make sure the 'bootable' box is unticked and then you should be good to go. The USB will now have an .exe file of some sort.

I doubt theres any order that you have to install them. If at all there is, I would say first chipset and network then the rest. Don't think it should matter though.

THANK YOU tambeshakunt ... that worked brilliantly. Phew!

That was a very easy-to-use link you provided. It did unpack the files to the USB ... so on the USB I was left with a set of about 5 .exe files (within zip files) which I clicked through one by one. A few did not work at first (waiting on something else to install first) but by being methodical they all got done in the end.

Thank you!!

You are welcome!
