Hello tom'sHardware,

I would like to see advantageous to use the components from my old rig to use as a seperate streaming PC, and to understand exactly what I would need in addition to make it work.

New Rig Components:
i7 4770K chipset
MSI z87 gd65 mobo
MSI twin frozr Radeon HD 6900
8 GB corsair vengeance 1866GHz RAM
1TB hitachi HDD
120GB PNY SSD (trash! imo)
775W ps

Left-over Components:
i7 930
asus p6t se mobo
12 GB 1333 GHz kingston RAM
1 TB hitachi hdd

That's what I've got at the moment, and I may have a few extra things lying around. What I need to know is whether or not I can use what I've got there to put together a seperate 'streaming' PC with high-end quality, or if it would be better to just focus on the new rig.

If it is a good idea to use the old components in a streaming PC, what else would I need? A capture card? another ps? I don't believe I would need another graphics card...

All help is appreciated.

Thanks vrumor. I have to be honest, I am kinda going for overkill here.

Are you saying that with the main PC setup, there is no need for the additional streaming PC, even on high quality everything everywhere everyhow?

Well im sure you could use your main rig for streaming purposes to other devices without noticing it too much. But id suggest a dedicated HTPC and use it as a server for streaming and whatever else you want to use it for. That is what im doing, it basically just streams to our bedroom which has a basic Roku device hooked up to the TV. Using Plex Server from the living room it streams up to 1080p whever its needed.
