Is your laptop in warranty? If it is get them to sort it out for you. If not, get a can of compressed air and try and blow dust out of the fans, vents, etc. Beyond that, you're looking at needing to take it apart to clean it

Heat is the most common problem with laptops - if your CPU and /or GPU get too hot, they will throttle in order to cool themselves, and you will see a drop in frame rate

Try mounting your laptop on a small book rather than directly on a desk/table - if you see better performance, you know heat is your issue
