Hey thanks for taking the time to read this.
I have a gateway dx4860-ub20p desktop. Mainly I use the computer to do online gaming, Planetside 2, Wildstar, GTA IV, Skyrim, etc.
CPU: i3-2100 @3.1GHz
RAM: 8GB (2x4gb) 1333MHz
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm WD caviar green
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 5570
PSU: 350w(?)
My question is, I want to spend under $300, and get a bit of an upgrade, do i upgrade the GPU, or the CPU/motherboard?
The CPU/mobo is a concern for me because it seems the DIMM2/4 Slots went bad, and my ram is running in single channel rather than dual. Also my local microcenter is selling an i5-4690k for $200 and have an open box MSI Z87-G45 for $85.
To upgrade the GPU, i'd most definitely need to buy a PSU as well. My current card is running at 99% when i try to play planetside.
Eventually I would like to upgrade both, but for now i'd like to do just one.
Thanks for your help!
