PC to External HDD Data Transfer Freezes after 5 %

Hello everyone,
I have a PQI H560 Portable HDD (500 GB). It was working smoothly, but now all of a sudden, I can't copy files into it.
No matter whatever I try to copy from my PC to this hard drive it freezes at around 5 % and the speed goes down to 0 b/s .
However, the copying from HDD to PC is going fine. Sometimes the speed fluctuates but it completes the transfer.
Please help :(

  1. Hi

You need to test for hardware problems first
Western digital data lifeguard for windows will work with other brands of drive

I assume the disk is not almost full as there would be error messages
If it passes the WD diagnostics ( but not if it fails)
    Run chkdsk

    Report the results

Actually, The Disk is almost full I have 2 partitions each around 230 GB, one has 10 GB Remaining and the other one has around 60 GB. But the one that has 60 GB (partition J:) has drive errors as windows tells me :3 "Scan and Repair to continue" but it can't repair it, it just gets hang and the light on the HDD goes out. Same thing while copying data into it. And okay I will let you know what happens with the WD Lifeguard test.
    Thanks
