I've had a Hackintosh/Windows dual-boot up and running for about 9 months now. It's a fairly recent Haswell i7 setup with an Nvidia video card. As of a couple days ago, there is no video on boot. The fans and lights all come on (and the CD tray opens/closes, so the system seems powered) and it stays powered on, but there is no video no matter what I try. Also, it doesn't go to sleep anymore, so my best guess is it's no longer booting into the OS (settings are to auto-login and sleep after 10 minutes, but I've waited long enough to see that it's not sleeping).
Unfortunately I disabled the onboard Intel video in the BIOS settings when I set this up, so I can only try different monitors on the video card (with no luck).
My guess is the video card is dead, but I wanted to check to see if there are any steps I should take to diagnose. I'm not home right now, but I'll be fixing this tonight and through the week.
I'm thinking I'll open the case and see if the GPU fan is turning on. I'm guessing if not, that's a pretty good indication. I'm also thinking I should otherwise try to reset the CMOS memory and try the onboard video. If I get that working, then it seems fairly obvious. If not, then I'm not really sure.
Any tips on how to figure this out?
