I am building a server to store video, using an ASUS Z9NA-D6 MB, Intel Xenon E5-2407V2 processor, Crucial DDR3 4Gbx2 RAM (CT2K4G3ERSKS41339), and Corsair RM750 PSU. I set it all up and powered it on, all of the fans powered on, and the appropriate green lights came on the board (no red lights), but no post, no video. The Thermaltake chasis came with a cheapy buzzer speaker, which I plugged into the Mobo's speaker output, but no beeps or other warnings. I troubleshooted with ASUS and they thought the board was bad so I swapped it. I breadboarded the next setup with the same results, I again troubleshooted with ASUS, after trying with a known good PSU and known good RAM, and again they though the new board was bad. I contacted the retailer and they believed their stock was bad. I returned the board and bought the same board from a different vendor, set it up with one stick of RAM, processor and Heat sink, and I plugged VGA video and PS2 keyboard in, with same results. The Mobo has a small red light next to the processor that is supposed to turn on if there is a processor error, but it is unlit. I tried removing the RAM altogether, still no POST beeps. The Mobo's speaker is a four jumper set, the cheapy speaker has four jumper holes, but only two wires one red, one black on either side of the outer pins.

Any thoughts of what I could be missing?

Thanks for replying, that is what I am kind of thinking as well, unless there is a small chance that ASUS has a whole stock of bad motherboards, I have really bad luck.

The last two boards were both bread boarded and weren't even put in the box yet, so the chassis shorting it out has been eliminated as well. I double checked the voltage input switch for the PSU, but there isn't one, so that has been eliminated as well.

I just worked through this problem today. I also have the ASUS Z9NA-D6 motherboard like you do, but I bought mine brand new this month (April 2015). I wanted to put in Intel Xeon E5-2420 v2. According to ASUS it's supported with BIOS update 5305. In your particular case (E5-2407v2), is also support by this same BIOS version. The BIOS that was preloaded from the factory on my board was version 3301. You board will never post with this BIOS until you re-flash it.

I ended up purchasing one Intel Xeon E5-2403 CPU (supported on BIOS version 0503) which did get it to post. This will allow me to flash the BIOS to the newer version so I can get my Xeon E5-2420v2 to post. Unfortunately, at this time I couldn't find any used compatible Xeons on eBay and had to fork over $200 just to get the 2403 CPU.
