I would like to add a few fans to my corsair 300r case and would like some advice on this. I have an Asus h97 plus motherboard which only has 2 chassis fan connectors. the case comes with a front 140mm and a rear 120mm. The case allows you to have 2 x 140 mm side fans, 2 x 140 mm front fans, and 2 x 120mm fans on top. I do not overclock or do anything that really requires more cooling, I would just like to keep the system cool for stability and just for the sake of keeping it cool. How many new fans should I purchase, and how should I go about setting them up. Should I add 1 side intake 140mm, 1 120mm exhaust on top, and an additional 140mm intake in the front? I do not know much about cooling so any suggestions are helpful.

You can use 4/3 pin to molex adapters and connect the extra fans directly to the PSU. Use the mobo headers for fans you want to have PWM control and the rest using the method I mentioned.
The ideal should be:
Front: 140mm x2 intake
Rear: 120mm x1 exhaust
Top: 120/140mm x2 exhaust.
Side 120/140mm x2 intake.
(lots of fans!)
But having 1 front intake, 1 rear exhaust, 1 side intake and 1 top exhaust should be quite enough.

I'd recommend either two front intakes and a rear exhaust or two front intakes, side intake and rear exhaust.

If you have more fans taking air into the case than pushing it out, you can create positive air pressure inside your case, which should help to keep dust from getting into your case through all the mesh.

If you use molex adapters for the fans, make sure you get quiet ones, since they'll be at full speed all of the time. I think the stock fans for the 300r are 3 pin, but still compatible with the pwm headers on your motherboard.

I'd get an extra 140mm fan for the front, as well as a 2-way pwm splitter for both of these fans. Once you've got enough airflow in your case adding more fans is pretty useless anyway. Most of the time they'll just create extra noise, but can sometimes help keep dust out, as mentioned before.
