Hey people, i currently have a gtx 770 superclocked with acx cooler and it is an awesome cooler and is super quiet its perfect. However, soon i am planning on getting another one for sli, and i have heard that with sli, the acx cooler isnt as good as the blower version.

This card has gpu boost 2.0 which as i understand it, regulates gpu performance based on temp so as to not damage the card. I do not want my cards to overheat and have my performance be lowered so can anyone give me suggestions for good cooling? My case is the corsair carbide 300r. Does anybody know if that case has good airflow? I dont really know how well it ventilates. Detailed answers appreciated.

It isn't to say much better for gaming, i would say it is more visually pleasing for the eyes but may/may not affect your actual gaming performance.
With GTX 770 SLI, yes it is worth it to view on a 1440p 144Hz monitor.
I not sure what monitor you looking at, i assume this one :Asus ROG Swift PG278Q

I have the same case as you and mine has alight air flow because it has an in take at the front with the stock exhaust at the back but an H100i in the top acting as an exhaust as well so that has helped keep my GPU a bit cooler. My best advice is if you are keeping the open air coolers on the 760 is to get some fans and put them on the side panel mounting slots because these will feed fresh air straight to the 2 cards and definitely help keep them cool. Adding extra fans in general will only help so the more the better really but even with lots of air flow the cards are still likely to get hotter than they would by themselves so the only way to really counter this would be to water cool them but that's a bit extreme so as long as they don't get crazy hot there is not really much need to. Another option could be to upgrade to a higher end card by selling the one you've got and using the money you were going to use on the second card to get a really good one like a 780ti, this i what I did and it is a great card. It also eliminates issues with micro-stuttering and some games not supporting SLI as well. Just some ideas though.

Thanks. Also, somewhat unrelated, does it matter what slot i put the second card? Id rather leave one slot empty in between them to have some more airflow but does it matter where i put it?

Look in the motherboard manual or look online to find the right slots, a 16x 2.0 PCI slot will be fine and they should be labelled on the manual so that's the place to look, you might be able to get away with it or you might not.

Also not that this really matters but u said 760. I have the 770 lol. I appreciate your suggestions, but if i buy another 770 not only will it be cheaper than buying a 780ti, but it will also have a good bit more performance. Plus the whole thing with micro-stuttering from sli is not really much of an issue anymore, nvidia has pretty much ironed that out. And i cant imagine there will be any new games that dont support sli.

Ok thanks i appreciate it. Sorry to ask about multiple topics in one thread but you seem knowledgable.

I was also wondering what monitor i should get. I am obsessed with the best possible realistic, crystal clear picture quality for gaming. I have a 1080p ips monitor which has a 60hz refresh rate but i probly want to get a 1440p monitor soon. I have also been told that a 144 or 120 hz is MUCH better for gaming. So would u recommend a 144 hz tn panel or should i stick with an ips panel at 60hz?
