So i installed a 500 gb hard drive to my pc. I deleted everything on it and it says it only has 232.88gb free. And it is a 500gb hard drive as the label says. I have tryed looking in disk manager and i already formatted the allocated space and everything toghther and i still only have 232. Pls help me i want to have the full 500gb on this hard drive. also it is from seagate. (it is a old Hard drive i found in old pc and thought of using it for my new pc.

If you have completely finished a thorough partition, not a quick one, and double checked the allocation sizes, it's more than likely that your 500GB is really a 256GB hard drive. Regardless of being a Solid State or Hard Disk Drive, the couple of GB is always reserved for hidden system recovery in the event that it should fail. In this case, if you done the format and it registers as 232 like you said, then the remaining amount should be HSR and I would advise looking for a newer Hard Drive in the future. Good luck!
