Hi everyone!! I was thinking of getting a new laptop but then windows tablets caught my eyes. Im planning on going vacation and dont currently have a working laptop with me so i was thinking of buying one. So i was wondering if :
Windows tablets run all applications which run on a desktop with windows 8??? such as steam, google chrome, Photoshop, Minecraft etc.
2nd question :_______----- how will the performance be? ill probably get a tablet in the 200-300$ range.( probably a dell venue 8 pro or asus vivotab...the cheap one from 2012)
#3rd question : i plan to do some light gaming and some minecraft on it so is it possible to hook up a controller which works with a windows desktop??and will any mouse and keyboard work???
4th:**** would you recommend a tablet or desktop? thanks in advance

Solution
Answer 1: Yes full windows 8 can run on tables
Answer 2: The performance will be ok but don't expect smooth gaming unless you restrict yourself to the windows 8 tiles
Answer 3: Mice and keyboards might work, just be aware of the limited ports
Answer 4: Tablet if general web browsing is all you do and some windows 8 tile gaming or really low end gaming like minecraft or fifa series on min settings or Desktop if any more processing power is needed
Tablets are NOT gaming computers and their graphics performacne is as good (or as bad) as the integrated graphics on the CPU chip.

Additionally, make sure you get a full Windows and not Windows RT (if that even exists anymore) since that is probably not compatible with some of the things you want to do.

More than that I can't help you with. Someone else may be along shortly. :)

Well i know they arent meant for gaming but i saw a couple of videos on youtube. Games like minecraft were running OK on the tablets. Just leave all the questions i previously asked.
Question 1 : What features in the tablet version of windows (not RT) will be limited as compared to dekstop?
Question 2 : Will it run controllers and keyboards mice everything that can run with dekstop?????
Plz divide answers the same way as i divided questions. thanxxx in advance :)

Thank you!! All i will do is some Dota 2 and Minecraft. ANd browsing and movies....the mainstream stuff. I know abt the ports. So you mean any keyboard or mouse or whatever which works with windows 8 desktop will work with a tablet provided the ports are available?

They should, I would check just in case
