New Graphics Card Recommendation

Hello,

I would really like to update my graphics card to help my computer keep up with modern games.
My specs are here:

I also have a 600W PSU.
I was previously recommended the Geforce GTX 750i, which I can support but it just wouldn't work in my PC. The screen would show the manufacturers name for a minute, then a black screen with an underscore in the top left corner. I tried a driver sweeper, disabling integrated graphics in BIOS and a CMOS reset and that did nothing. However, my computer still functions perfectly fine with my GT 545 so I figured it was something to do with the GTX 750i or compatibility. (I also took it to a specialist and they agreed, but were confused about the issue as well.)
So, I've decided it might be better to try a different graphics card.

I would share motherboard information but I'm a bit confused at what's important and what's just numbers.
Can anyone recommend a all round, good graphics card that is likely to be compatible? I'm not after top of the range either, but something around the GTX 750i would be lovely.
Thanks!

Edit: The motherboard info I do have is AMI-aptio 9v90 6575, Intel 150 rev 9. The rest is just numbers and I don't know which are needed.

I was going on the assumption it was defective. Any 600watt,no matter how generic, should be able to power a 750ti.

But since you're from the UK,i have no idea whats available.

The 270 is the next logical choice,as AMD price per performance is much higher than Nvidia in this price range.

Or try another 750ti?

I did not, I still have it. And no, I don't think it is defective (though I have no other computers to test it on)
The one I have at the moment is the second one I've bought, the first had the exact same issue as my current one. I thought the first one might be defective, so I returned it but this second one does the same thing.
And yeah, the specialist I saw didn't see why it wouldn't be compatible. I have decent enough specs, it just doesn't get to the windows screen. Just stays on the Lenovo screen for a minute (instead of 5 seconds) then a black screen with a flashing underscore.
All the fixes I've tried are written in the original post.

This is the second one I've tried, no thank you! And no one seems to have a fix for it, so I figured it's probably better to just refund the 750i and get a similar one.
In terms of what we have in the UK, there's this on amazon UK, but it's R9 270X and I'm not sure how much of difference that makes compared to the R7 270.
